This season IS currently available for purchase from Strat-O-Matic: 2008 Baseball Cards and Additional Players
- Phillies win first Series since ’80 … Rays rise from cellar to AL pennant
- Ramirez .396 for LA, Sabathia 11-2, 1.65 for Brewers after trades
- 189 additional players, including “total cards”
Tampa Bay dropped “Devil” from its nickname and the Rays ascended from the grave (10 straight losing seasons) to win its first AL pennant. Hmm. Like the Rays, the Angels – the only team to win 100 since 2005 – relied on pitching, defense and speed. But the Phillies claimed the ultimate glory with power (Ryan Howard, Chase Utley), speed and defense (Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino).
The Additional Players include the popular “total cards” that show the combined statistics for players traded between leagues in mid-season. In 2008 there are 45 total cards, including those for Manny Ramirez, C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixeira. Other Additional Players include men with limited time, but may have had the at-bats or starting pitching assignments you want for a detailed season replay.
